Disney CEO Reorganizes Company to Focus on Making More Content for Disney+

Bob Chapek was meant to take over the CEO position for Disney, but things got kind of side tracked because of COVID-19. Now Chapek has made a huge move for the company, adding more priority in the making of content for Disney+.

According to THR, Chapek is putting the creation of more content for Disney's streaming service as the first priority for the company. THR writes:

Under the new structure, Disney is creating a Media and Entertainment Distribution group responsible for both the dissemination and ad sales for all of its content, including across streaming services including Disney+.

The head of the new division, Kareem Daniel, had this to say about landing the job:

"It's a tremendous privilege to work with the talented and dedicated teams that will comprise this group, and I look forward to a close collaboration with the outstanding and incredibly successful team of creative content leaders at the Company, as together we build on the success we've already achieved in our DTC and legacy distribution business."

Seeing that Disney had made a huge chunk of their profits from parks, they have received a huge blow when the virus hit and several parks had to be shut down. Seeing as the virus is still going to be around for a while, it would make sense that Disney would want to focus on a product that people can actually consume from the safety of their home.

We don't really know exactly how this reshuffling will affect incoming content, but I imagine that we will be getting shows a lot faster than previously expected. While Disney+ does have a lot of users, the platform has been criticized for relying too heavily on Disney's vault of classics. It would be great if we could have some new shows incoming.

For now, fans wait for the release of The Mandalorian on Oct. 30. Disney+ is now available in select countries.
