Disney And Fox Merger Set To Close By March

It's finally happening much sooner than we think. A new report suggests that the deal between The Walt Disney Company and 20th Century Fox will finally close by early March.

According to Variety, the House of Mouse will auction off the 22 regional sports networks it will procure from Fox. However, Fox Corp. has confirmed that they will not bid on any of the regional networks that are being sold. Interestingly, the report also reveals when the Disney-Fox merger might finally be closed.

"The Disney-21st Century Fox transaction is expected to close by early March, if not early February," the report reads. This is in line with the second round of bids on the regional networks, which will take place on the end of January.

The Disney and Fox merger is something that Marvel fans have been waiting for for quite some time. After all, it would mean that Marvel characters that are owned by Fox will finally get to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The merger could result in major crossovers between the MCU and the X-Men by next year.

Fox still has two X-Men films scheduled for 2019. Dark Phoenix is already set to premiere by June 7 while The New Mutants is scheduled for release in August.

If the merger is finalized in February or March, this could mean that Dark Phoenix will be the first X-Men movie under the Disney banner. The Jean Grey flick could be marketed as a Marvel feature as soon as the deal is closed next month.
