As Lady Ochiba bids farewell to Lady Daiyoin in Shōgun episode 8, you'll notice she gave her medicine before she kicked the bucket. Did Lady Ochiba poison Lady Daoiyoin in Shōgun?

Lady Ochiba and the Strange Handkerchief
Based on what Shōgun has shown us, Lady Ochiba is the type of woman who would stop at nothing to gain the upper hand in the political game she mastered herself.
This includes getting rid of any possible loops from destroying her plans to rule and dispose of Lord Toranaga and his assets completely.
If it hadn't been for Lady Daiyoin's help, Lady Ochiba wouldn't have been the Ochiba-no-kata we know today.
Even though Lady Iyo is the legal wife of Taikō, her power doesn't come off as anything special as she failed in siring Taikō a child — a son, specifically.
However, given that Lady Ochiba, one of Taikō's consorts, was impregnated, she instantly gained a higher position in his council.
Little did they know that Lady Iyo was right behind Lady Ochiba's ploy by helping her get fertile through the use of various drugs and medicines.

Shōgun Fans Believe Lady Ochiba Poisoned Lady Daiyoin
Given this knowledge, fans on Reddit are led to believe that Lady Ochiba may have been behind Lady Daiyoin's nearly instant death in episode 8.
Though this is a theory (for now), the eighth episode shows how Lady Iyo died in her bed.
After suffering from a stroke that morning, Lady Ochiba went and offered her medicine. She wipes Lady Iyo's mouth with a handkerchief and listens to her last words before dying.
It's quite suspicious how Lady Ochiba seems to be putting up an act, all the while she tucked the handkerchief she used on her Lady's mouth in her pockets.
This appears to be her getting rid of any evidence that may link Lady Iyo's death back to Lady Ochiba.
Even though this remains a mystery, the last two episodes of Shōgun will likely turn the tables on everyone in regard to how Lady Ochiba has been on the move since the beginning of the series.
