In Loki Episode 5, Journey Into Mystery, we get to see what really happened to Loki after being pruned, same as to Mobius, and all the others who had been eliminated by the Time Variance Authority who did not conform with the sacred timeline as written. However, it has a familiar touch to it, so, did Loki steal the plot point of the wasteland from Thor: Ragnarok?
Did Loki Steal This Plot Point From Thor: Ragnarok?
In Loki, we were introduced to the place called The Void where, as Kid Loki stated, all the rubbish of the TVA goes to after being pruned as they determined that the sacred timeline is messed up. It was explained by Ravonna Renslayer that when they reset a timeline, they merely transport it to a place and time where it wouldn't grow and cause another branch.
The Void looks like a barren wasteland with things falling from the skies after it was pruned by the TVA. As seen with what happened to USS Eldridge, the whole ship was dropped from the skies before being devoured by the creature that ends all life there. Who is Alioth, you may ask? Well, Kid Loki says that it is the creature making sure that no one ever escapes the place.
However, this plot point has so many similarities to one we have already seen in the MCU: Sakaar, the place where all the rubbish in space ends up in the wasteland led by the first lost and first found, the Grandmaster. When something in space drifts, it gets sucked into Sakaar, a place where all those lost in space were "found" or at least end up after being thrown out.
The concept is almost the same as The Void, right? It just had a different source but it is almost the same. To think, it is not a stolen plot, nor a borrowed one; it is an inspiration, perhaps. Looking back to the basics of science where matter is neither created nor destroyed, it perfectly explains why the TVA is just transferring, not totally erasing anything already in existence.
Also, it mirrors Thor's story of being stuck in an unknown place being prey to those who are in the said place. The marauders in Sakaar and Alioth in The Void are the threat and those who just arrived are something to eat. Like in Thor: Ragnarok, the very first line from the marauders are "are you a fighter or are you food?" but in this case, everything in The Void is to be devoured by Alioth.
Parallels are normal in various shows. While they are not, per se, stolen, it has been an inspiration to pull off and close a hole in the story itself.
