Netflix’s Drop 01 event saw lots of exciting animated series announcements, though it’s fair to call the Devil May Cry anime the biggest one as it’s being made by the creator of the hit Castlevania series.

This new animated series was officially revealed via a short teaser trailer which features Dante in action.

It might be a short teaser, but it definitely made fans excited, especially those who played the Devil May Cry game series.

As the series is being made by Netflix regulars for animated titles, it promises to satisfy long-time series fans.

Adi Shankar is the well-known showrunner of Netflix’s Castlevania animated series which ran from 2017 to 2021.

Following the series’ end, Shankar kept himself busy as he started working on a wide range of projects. Among these is Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which is based on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

He is also an executive producer for Netflix’s Castlevania: Nocturne series. Both Nocturne and Captain Laserhawk were highlighted at Netflix’s Drop 01 event yesterday. But it was Devil May Cry that got the most attention.

The Devil May Cry anime was revealed to be in the works way back in 2018. It is only recently that the show was officially unveiled, but it was worth the wait it seems, based on the fan reactions.

Working on the show’s animation is Studio Mir, a studio that’s best known for adapting other notable video games like Dota and The Witcher.

Devil May Cry is a popular action video game series by Capcom, and it is especially beloved for its stylish action and memorable (and meme-worthy) characters. Thus, it’s the perfect material for an anime series.

The show’s new teaser did not feature much footage, but the slightly different look of the protagonist, Dante, was shown. Even if he looks a bit different here, fans have no problems with it, based on the reactions.

You can check out the new teaser here:

What also makes the series exciting for long-time fans is that it is being supervised by Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Devil May Cry 3 and beyond.

For now, there’s no word yet on the show’s release date. But it is confirmed that Devil May Cry will get multiple seasons, meaning fans have lots to look forward to in the next few years.
