Detective Comics #1000 Will Introduce the Arkham Knight to Comics Continuity

Superman celebrated his 1000th issue of Action Comics earlier this year, so it's no surprise that Batman will be getting the same treatment next year when Detective Comics #1000 comes out. Like Action Comics #1000 before it, this special one-shot will be 96-pages and feature a ton of stories from some of the comic industry's best, like Brian Michael Bendis, Paul Dini, Geoff Johns, and so much more.

However, what might get the attention of fans is the main story of Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke, who are taking the title over this December. These two stellar creators will have the main story of the one-shot and it will feature the main comics continuity debut of the Arkham Knight.

Introduced in the video game Batman: Arkham Knight, the titular villain ended up being Jason Todd in the game's universe. However, DC Comics is saying that this will be a completely different version of the Arkham Knight, so it looks like Jason will still be the Red Hood for now. His comic book is doing well after all, especially now that it has been rebranded as Red Hood: Outlaw.

Who this Arkham Knight is and what his purpose has yet to be revealed, though fans will be able to find out on March 2019. Expect this character to be a big deal since the Arkham games managed to get the attention of the mainstream audience.

Detective Comics #1000 comes out in March 2019. Tomasi and Mahnke will take over Detective Comics this December, so pick up the start of their storyline next month.
