Denzel Washington Says Marvel And DC Have Never Approached Him For A Superhero Role

Denzel Washington might be an Academy Award-winning actor, but it looks like the A-lister has yet to be approached by Marvel or DC for any sort of role in their future comic book projects.

Speaking with JOE.ie to help promote his most recent film, The Equalizer 2, Washington revealed the surprising news that he's never been offered a chance to play a superhero role in any Marvel Cinematic Universe or DC Extended Universe project.

"I haven't been approached...we'll see what happens. Never say never," the actor told the news outlet, keeping the door of opportunity ajar for both Marvel Studios and Warner Brothers.

The news definitely comes as a surprise to Washington's fans. Considered to be one of the most versatile actors in the Hollywood film industry, The Equalizer star has been raking awards left and right during his many years as an actor, winning Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars for his role in Glory, and Best Actor for his role in Training Day.

Though some might argue that the 63-year-old actor is too old to take on a comic book movie role, Washington has continually proved himself fit to star in action movies like the Equalizer sequel. Besides, who wouldn't want to see Washington as a gritty version of John Stewart?
