Hantengu made his first appearance in Episode 45 of Demon Slayer. Unlike most Upper-Rank demons with vicious physical attributes and strong personalities, Hantengu has a frail body.

He has a large bump on his head with two horns and a sharp chin. But what makes him stand out is the expression of fear and terror he wears.

He is easily frightened and can show signs of delusion and paranoia.

In fact, he can even cry in fear. If we are to compare him to a demon slayer, he is most likely the counterpart of Zenitsu (minus the shrieking and fainting).

His personality and appearance make him less feared by other Upper-Rank demons, but there is undoubtedly a good reason Hantengu is part of the Twelve Demon Moons.

When Hantengu first met Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya in Demon Slayer Season 3, it wasn't yet revealed that he could create clones based on his emotions.

But that is not all, as these forms have an equal level of his strength.

Hantengu has six clones: Sekido, Karaku, Aizetsu, Urogi, Zohakuten, and Urami.

Through Tanjiro’s encounter with Hantengu, he learns that beheading the Upper Moon Four does not kill him. Instead, he multiplies and regenerates.

Sekido

If Hantengu is fearful, Sekido is angry. This means he is always in a constant state of rage, irritation, and vexation.

As for his abilities, Sekido can do Biological Absorption and Flesh Manipulation.

Biological Absorption allows Sekido to absorb the bodies of other Hantengu forms and become a more powerful form called Zohakuten.

Sekido can also control and alter his flesh using a Khakkhara.

Karaku

Karaku is the manifestation of pleasure, explaining why he is more laid-back and chill compared to Sekido.

He praises his enemies during battle, as seen when he fought Nezuko, Tanjiro, and Genya instead of taking the fight seriously.

He doesn't care about the fight's outcome and simply focuses on the experiences he gets from it.

His main ability is Aerokinesis, which allows him to release powerful wind gusts through an Uchiwa.

A simple swing can blow anyone farther away instantly, as seen in what happened to Muichiro.

The wind is so strong that it can crush anyone with immense pressure to the point that they become unconscious.

In battle, Karaku uses his Uchiwa to create a tornado, making it hard for his enemies to move.

The only problem is that once the Uchiwa is in the possession of another person, Karaku has no more control over it.

Aizetsu

Another form of Hantengu is Aizetsu, who manifests sorrow. He is negative, sour, and generally depressed.

But unlike other forms, he is the most collected and calm. He does not waste his time using fights as entertainment, nor does he get agitated easily like Sekido.

As for his abilities, he can manipulate his flesh. He also has unlimited endurance and stamina, which explains how he can be in battle for a long time without showing any signs of fatigue.

He uses the Yari to project a thrusting attack that is ideal for long-distance attacks.

This makes Aizetsu another challenging opponent like the other Hantengu forms.

Urogi

Of course, Hantengu also has a form that manifests joy, and that is Urogi. He shows this emotion by being giddy all the time.

He considers the battle with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya merely a game, similar to Karaku. He even finds his encounter with Tanjiro delightful.

Urogi is different from the other forms as he has attributes and abilities similar to avian creatures.

He uses razor-sharp talons and large feathered wings to attack and defend himself. He usually flies at high speed, giving him an advantage against his enemies.

His talons are strong enough to cut solid stones, including diamonds.

Unfortunately, he has one major drawback: his body is extremely light, which makes it easier for Tanjiro to take him to his desired destination while fighting in mid-air.

Zohakuten

When Sekido absorbs the other forms, he becomes Zohakuten, the manifestation of hatred. He is foul-mouthed and easily enraged.

As a combined form, Zohakuten exhibits advanced intelligence. He is also the most insightful, as he can analyze each attack he and his opponent makes.

Zohakuten’s Blood Demon Art is Wood Manipulation, which allows him to alter and manipulate wood from flora.

A simple tap from any of his drums can trigger this ability. What's more, this power is ideal for both close and long-distance attacks.

Since he is an absorbed version of Urogi, Aizetsu, Karaku, and Sekido, Zohakuten can use all of their Blood Demon Arts and, worse, put these to a whole new level.

Urami

The last form of Hantengu is Urami, which embodies resentment. He is delusional and believes he is being punished for things he is innocent of.

He can alter his size, just like Nezuko. This gives him the advantage of escaping from his enemies easily.

Aside from that, he can also utilize the other Blood Demon Arts of the other Hantengu forms.

This was seen when he used Urogi’s scream against Genya, Nezuko, and Tanjiro.
