A24, the studio responsible for Academy Award-winning films such as Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Whale recently confirmed that they're collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS to turn Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding video game into a live-action film.

Death Stranding Release Date: When Will the Live-Action Premiere?
The original Death Stranding video game franchise has connected to over 16 million Porters across PlayStation 4, 5, and PC, and has earned a variety of accolades since its launch on November 8th, 2019.
One of the awards happens to be from the 2020 BAFTA (British Academy Games Awards) Games Awards.
The studio has reached a new milestone by announcing that they are transforming Death Stranding into a live-action film ahead of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS' 8th anniversary on December 16th.
Considering that news on the live adaptation is pretty fresh, there are no set release dates yet on when Death Stranding will premiere in theaters.
Hideo Kojima on Collaborating with A24
According to KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, Hideo Kojima calls A24 films, "high in quality" and "very innovative."
The acclaimed video game creator praises the studio for having an aligned approach to storytelling similar to what KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has been doing for the last eight years.
"Now, we are making a Death Stranding movie together. There are a lot of 'game adaptation films' out there, but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. The intention is that our audience creating a Death Stranding universe that has never been seen before, achievable only through the medium of film, it will be born."
Death Stranding Documentary Film Releasing Soon
During the Game Awards show in Los Angeles, Kojima took the stage to announce two things: an upcoming game project with filmmaker Jordan Peele titled 'OD' will be produced in partnership with Microsoft's Xbox Game Studios and a documentary film for Death Stranding is releasing soon.
According to Variety, the documentary film is called Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, which will feature behind-the-scenes on how the video game creator trodded in his journey of building the independent games studio and how Death Stranding came to be.
The aforementioned documentary is currently slated to release in Spring 2024, and will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
Who is Starring in the Death Stranding Live-Action Movie?
While nothing has been confirmed yet as to who we can expect to star in the live-action movie, Death Stranding, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS did mention the original cast from their video game, seemingly hinting at their involvement.
It remains to be seen if the same actors will indeed be reprising their roles in the adaptation, but for now, here's the main voice cast in the video game:

The Story of Death Stranding: Will It Adapt the Original Video Game?
The original story of the video game revolves around deliveryman Sam Porter (Norman Reedus) traveling across the wasteland after a mysterious apocalypse wreaked havoc in the city-states of America.
After the occurrence of the event dubbed the 'death stranding', the world is left in ruins, plagued by supernatural creatures to defend what's left of civilization.
Again, even though nothing has been confirmed yet for Death Stranding's live-action move, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS did state that the film will keep the overarching storyline, which you can check out below:
The film promises to delve into the mysteries surrounding the apocalyptic event called the 'Death Stranding', which blurred the lines between life and death, and brought forth nightmarish creatures into a world on the brink of collapse.
Is There a Trailer for the Death Stranding Live-Action Movie?
As of writing, the collaboration between A24 and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has just been announced, so no trailer has been released yet.
