JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s colorful style and memorable characters are a perfect fit for a stage production, so it’s no surprise that it’s getting a play soon. Now, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood play revealed its main cast, and it features a well-known anime VA.

While the play’s run is still months away, it was revealed that iconic anime voice actor Mamoru Miyano will star in the production as a JoJo fan favorite.

Phantom Blood might not be the most action-packed part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, but the play promises to make it a must-see for JoJo fans as it will be a musical.

Given how theatrical the JoJo anime is, a musical is a perfect fit, even more so than other anime-turned-musicals like Attack on Titan or even Spy x Family.

What’s more, fans can look forward to the ever-popular anime VA Mamoru Miyano as Dio Brando. Fans of Miyano’s funny antics in stage events will know that this is a perfect fit.

Miyano is best known for voicing Light Yagami in Death Note and Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate. However, his more recent role as the necromancer Kotaro Tatsumi in Zombie Land Saga better shows his theatrical chops.

It’ll be interesting to see how Miyano will perform and sing as Dio. After all, Takehito Koyasu’s voice as Dio is going to be difficult to live up to.

In the musical, Miyano will be joined by the following actors:

  • Yuya Matsushita and Shotaro Arisawa as Jonathan Joestar
  • Miisha Shimizu as Erina Pendleton
  • Young Dais as Robert E.O. Speedwagon
  • Yoshihisa Higashiyama and Yusuke Hirose as Baron Zeppeli
  • Yamato Kochi as Jack the Ripper
  • Jumpei Shimada as Wang Chan
  • Kong Kuwata as Dario Brando
  • Tetsuya Bessho as George Joestar I

Given how demanding Jonathan and Zeppeli’s roles are, it makes sense that these characters are played by two actors. This is the case for main characters in practically all stage productions.

The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Stage Musical will run from February 6-28, 2024, at the Tokyo Imperial Theatre. Its next run will be at the Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater Hitaru from March 26-30, 2024.

Finally, the musical will run at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center from April 9-14, 2024. As with most anime stage productions, this musical will likely be mounted only in Japan.
