Every athlete has a ritual before the bell rings. It could be imagining the possible Pizza flavor you might be ordering after the match, meditating or praying, and even listening to Eye of the Tiger through their headphones to pump up their energy. But not this fighter.

On his match against Robert Whittaker in UFC 243 in October last year, UFC star, Israel Adesanya, composed the name of his adversary on the Death Note.

Inspired by the famous Japanese anime, Adesanya utilizes the Death Note to motivate himself and get his opponent intrigued.

Orch, a YouTuber who uploaded a clip from the fight, showed Adesanya to be keeping tabs on his opponent before composing something on an imaginary journal. He did his stunt with such a compelling performance to give UFC and anime fans one of the most unexpected scenes a fighter would ever bring into the octagon. Check out the clip below:

"I have a Shinigami with me. I just had to write his name because I knew – he's not gonna last. I just wrote his name in a Death Note. Those who know the rules of the Death Note, they know. There's a certain timeframe. After your name's written in the Death Note, the Shinigami will get you." Adesanya mentions in a post-interview.
