Deadpool Director Says Ryan Reynolds Made Him Quit The Sequel

Have you ever wondered why Tim Miller decided not to work on Deadpool 2 although he did such an awesome job with the first movie? The Terminator: Dark Fate director has just revealed that it had a lot to do with Ryan Reynolds.

Miller was recently a guest on KCRW's The Business podcast where he opened up about his departure from Deadpool 2. Interestingly, Miller pointed out that Reynolds' drive to control the franchise made him decide to abandon the project.

"It became clear that Ryan wanted to be in control of the franchise," Miller said. "You can work that way as a director, quite successfully, but I can't. I don't mind having a debate, but if I can't win, I don't want to play. And I don't think you can negotiate every creative decision, there's too many to make."

It sounds like Miller was truly interested in Deadpool 2. However, he ultimately accepted that he couldn't go against Reynolds.

"So Ryan's the face of the franchise, and he was the most important component of that, by far. So if he decides he wants to control it, then he's going to control it," Miller concluded.

We're not sure exactly what Miller was planning for Deadpool 2. Nevertheless, his decision to leave the franchise to make way for Reynolds appears to be the best choice for the sequel. Nevertheless, it would be great to see more of Miller's works in the future.

Miller recently worked on Terminator: Dark Fate as well as the Netflix series Love, Death & Robots, which has been renewed for a second season.
