Ezra Miller's future in the DC Universe is undoubtedly an intriguing situation and despite the franchise taking a different creative direction in the coming months, we still don't know whether or not the controversial star will continue playing Barry Allen after The Flash. As it stands, DC Studios bosses have made it clear that they're starting with a clean slate but are open to the idea of keeping some of the actors for their future slate.

This week, the entire comic book film fandom was set ablaze when reports began circulating online that Miller will in fact be replaced as the Scarlet Speedster in the new DCU. What's even more shocking is Grant Gustin's rumored involvement in James Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted universe.

John Campea recently reported that the star of the Arrowverse could appear in Ezra's standalone The Flash film but instead of it being a nod or payoff to the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover, Gustin will actually serve as the official Flash of the new DCU.

Naturally, this hot rumor spread like wildfire across social media and many are thrilled about the idea, especially those who are in favor of Miller getting ousted from the franchise. Check out some of the reactions below:

It's worth noting though that Gustin has already expressed his desire to move on from the role when The CW's The Flash finally ends. Additionally, the DC Studios co-CEOs are still open to the idea of keeping Miller on board, so long as he stays away from trouble and actually finishes his mental health therapy.

The Flash is hitting cinemas on June 16. Meanwhile, the ninth and final season of The CW's The Flash is now available to stream on The CW app.
