DC Universe's Titans Will Dramatically Change Hawk and Dove

DC Universe is expected to launch this fall and Titans will be the centerpiece of this new app. It has the potential to be one of the biggest superhero shows coming out since almost everyone loves the Teen Titans, so this grittier take on the team will interest many. However, adaptations like this mean changes and actress Minka Kelly confirmed that big ones are coming to Hawk and Dove.

During an interview with iHeartRadio, Kelly revealed that the crime-fighting duo would not have powers. This is a pretty major change since the two characters have always had powers, even in the silver age when Dove was a man. Apparently, their costumes will just act as armor and the duo will rely on skills and combat abilities to take down thugs.

"I have a background in ballet, in gymnastics, and jiu-jitsu, so I'm pretty talented. So I can fight, and I have a super suit, and I have wings. I have 30-pound wings that I wear that — I can't fly because they try — it's realistic as possible. I can't fly, because that would be not realistic, you know? I'm a real person. I have wings, but they're my shield, they're my weapon, so I take people under my wing and I protect them, and I slice people with them when I fight. The fighting — we all have our own individual specific style of fighting, and mine, in particular, is like a dancer."

In the comics, Hawk would have a "danger sense" transformation that gives him super strength and enhanced speed. Dove turns into a dove that flies away, which is a bit underwhelming but it was something.

Hearing about realism in this show is odd since it also stars a witch, a sexy super-powered alien, and a boy who turns into animals. Then again, we have yet to see a trailer so maybe their powers will be downplayed or nerfed to an extent. It wouldn't be a popular decision though since people loved their powers in the animated series.

Titans will debut sometime this year, along with the DC Universe app.
