DC Universe Teaser Reveals Batman the Animated Series in HD For the First Time

This year's DC Universe app has many comic book fans interested, thanks to a number of new shows premiering in the service like Titans. However, there is also some appeal in watching the older shows and movies under DC, with many looking forward to seeing Batman: The Animated Series again.

It turns out that the classic cartoon will look even better under DC Universe, as the company has revealed we will be seeing the series in HD for the first time ever.

As of this writing, Batman: The Animated Series has not been released in Blu-Ray, although the canonical movie Night of the Phantasm got one not too long ago. This probably explains why the series hasn't gotten one yet, though it's only a matter of time given how popular the show still is.

Coming out in the 90's, BTAS immediately grabbed the attention of audiences young and old. The cartoon had plenty of jokes that kids would like but also a number of dark themes and stories that adults would appreciate. It was so popular that a number of cartoons under the same universe would come out after, including Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and Batman Beyond.

Despite being more than a decade old, the series' influence can still be felt today. Harley Quinn was created for the show and is now one of DC's most popular characters, with a best-selling comic book and starring role in the Suicide Squad movie. Voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, who provided their talents to Batman and Joker respectively, still lend their vocals to these characters in other forms of media, such as the Batman: Arkham games.

No release date for the DC Universe app has been released.
