For the longest time, fans of the DC Extended Universe have been demanding Warner Bros. to remove Amber Heard from the Aquaman franchise but it's quite obvious that the studio has major plans for the actress who plays Mera in the Jason Momoa-led film.

This is why it didn't come as a surprise how WB and DC Films brought back the ever-so-controversial actress for the upcoming sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom despite her highly publicized personal issues with ex-husband Johnny Depp, who was unceremoniously dropped by the studio from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

But in a shocking turn of events, it looks like Mera's time in the DCEU is nearing its end. According to tipster Grace Randolph, the actress' screen time in Aquaman 2 is reportedly only less than 10 minutes long. The oftentimes reliable scooper didn't disclose the specifics regarding Mera's role in the sequel but it does leave off the impression that she's no longer playing a major part in the film and in the DCEU for that matter.

After learning about the news, a lot of fans were delighted that Mera's role in the film has been reduced and according to them, it only serves the actress right. Check out some of the reactions below:

Things aren't looking great for Amber and with the defamation case against her nearing its conclusion, a lot of people are expecting the court's final verdict to be in favor of Depp who seemingly has all the advantage at this rate.

As for the Mera character, I wish they'd just recast Amber instead of reducing the character's role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom because Mera was easily one of the best things about the first movie.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's theatrical release has been rescheduled to March 17, 2023.
