Dave Filoni Confirms Obi-Wan Always Knew About the Romance Between Anakin and Padme

While the Star Wars movies give out clear characterization for Obi-Wan, Anakin, and the rest, they are given a lot more nuance when it comes to the animated Clone Wars series. As an insight into the last episode, showrunner Dave Filoni explains Obi-Wan's character and how he perceives the relationship between Anakin and Padme.

In a recent Clone Wars featurette, Filoni explains, "Obi-wan's not dumb. He knows Anakin's in love with this woman. I don't think he thinks that Anakin took it that far (getting married). Even Obi-Wan was in love with someone, that's not abnormal, it's very normal."

In Clone Wars, Obi-Wan was also given a love interest in the form of Satine Kryze, a leader of the planet Mandalore that was killed during the Clone Wars by Maul. It's very interesting to see Obi-Wan in a romance, seeing that he has always been a perfect Jedi to the audience; and Jedi aren't allowed romantic feelings.

For now, everyone is savoring the last season of Clone Wars. After what seemed like an eternity in limbo, Disney is finally giving Filoni and his crew the opportunity to finish the stories they were trying to tell. Hopefully, it will end up satisfying fans in the end. With a Rebels sequel also set to come out later in the year, I'm sure some fans want some kind of set-up or teaser.

For now, catch new episodes of The Clone Wars on Disney+ every Friday.
