Dave Bautista Wants To Join James Gunn’s DC Universe Following End of MCU Role

James Gunn’s DC Universe shakeup may continue to be questionable to fans, but not to multi-time WWE champion Dave Bautista. The Drax actor has played his role in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy since the beginning of his acting career, which definitely strengthened their friendship. In spite of the current mixed reactions on the uncertain DC future, Bautista is interested in joining the DC wagon following the end of his MCU role.

Highly commended by Rian Johnson himself, the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story actor is described to be a man of passion who may look big on the outside, but can bring the sensitivity into any role he would take part in. Given that Bautista initially left the WWE world to try his luck in acting, he has gained success beginning with Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

However, now that Bautista himself confirmed that Volume 3 will be the last time we see him play Drax (while not discouraging the idea that someone else could potentially replace him in the MCU), Gunn previously admitted that Marvel Studios had “wasted” Drax and Mantis in the MCU. With this, it is safe to assume that Bautista’s next step would likely be to join his friend in another franchise.

In a recent conversation with Comicbook.com, when asked if he had spoken with former Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director, Bautista admits he hasn’t talked with Gunn about DCU. While the actor said he didn’t want to be “that guy” who wants to force himself into a role, he shares he would “love to be a part of the DC Universe.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently slated for release on May 5, 2023.
