Dave Bautista Wants a Drax Movie, Even If He's Not In It

Fans have been curious about Dave Bautista's status for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The actor continues to be vocal about how he hates Disney's treatment of James Gunn and is fine being fired if it ever comes to that. Interestingly enough, Bautista recently revealed that he wants a Drax the Destroyer movie, even if he isn't the one starring in it.

Speaking with MTV International, Bautista feels that there is a lot of unexplored backstory for Drax that would make a compelling movie. The man has gone through a lot since his family was killed by Ronan the Accuser so it would be interesting to see what happens. Whether he is interesting enough to carry a movie by himself remains to be seen.

Despite this, Bautista thinks that a solo movie for the character isn't ever going to happen, even though he has fought for it. It is interesting for him to point out how he would be okay with this film being made even if he's not the one getting the role. Most people associate Bautista with the character so it would be jarring to have someone else play Drax.

"I really pushed and fought for the Drax standalone film but I don't think it's ever going to happen. I really wish they would because I think there's a story to be told there and I think the fans would really love to see that story, even if it's not me portraying Drax, I just think it is an interesting story to tell."

He might not be the best actor of the bunch but Bautista's comedic timing has made his star shine. People loved his antics from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and his "why is Gamora" line from Infinity War continues to be referenced by fans.

Bautista is set to reprise his role in Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019, unless plans change. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been delayed indefinitely.
