Darth Maul Actor Confident that Kenobi Movie will Happen

Everyone was expecting Lucasfilm to announce the Kenobi spinoff film soon, but instead we got confirmation that James Mangold is working on a Boba Fett movie. Blogger David Weiser was able to tap Darth Maul actor Ray Park during Comicpalooza, and it looks like the Kenobi movie is still a go.

Here's his tweet:

Though Maul's story had pretty much wrapped up in Star Wars Rebels, it would be interesting to see him reunite with Obi-Wan in a spinoff film. Then again, it would kind of just be redundant, counting what we saw in the series. Rumors have come out that Grand Admiral Thrawn is the film's potential villain.

There have been numerous rumbling about the Kenobi movie in the past months, but the only solid news we seem to have is that the movie will be directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Crown), with a production slated to start next year. Besides that, we don't even have anyone announced for the script.

Ewan McGregor has also expressed his interest to return for an Obi-Wan-centric film, but so far, he has said that he hasn't been contacted by Lucasfilm. Hopefully we get an update soon.

Lucasfilm has not officially announced a Kenobi spinoff film.
