Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese have found their next big project after the cancellation of 1899. The German creators have just been confirmed to develop the live-action series adaptation of Something Is Killing The Children which is set to premiere on Netflix.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese have been tapped to take on the adaptation of the Boom! Studios comic. Bo Odar and Friese will serve as writers, showrunners, and executive producers on the project. Likewise, they will direct the pilot.
This is great news considering that fans are still disappointed by the abrupt cancellation of 1899 and Dark. Although most people would have preferred a second season of the sci-fi series, we're all just happy to know that Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese will be working on a new show to obsess about in the future.
Something Is Killing the Children was created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera and published by Boom! Studios. The comic follows a mysterious young woman named Erica Slaughter who comes to a town where the children are being eaten by monsters.
The comic book series was originally set to be a five-issue limited series but Boom! Studios promoted it to ongoing status due to fan demand. Since then, Something Is Killing The Children has won numerous Eisner Awards including Best Writer for James Tynion IV and Best Continuing Series in 2022. It is also known as one of the most popular comic series that is not published by Marvel or DC. With that in mind, the adaptation is certainly something to look forward to in the future.
