Marvel fans were devastated when Netflix decided to cancel Daredevil a month after putting Iron Fist and Luke Cage on the chopping board. Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) web series was a fan-favorite Marvel TV show, one that reaped critical acclaim and overwhelmingly positive reviews from fans. While we still have to learn from Netflix about the reason behind Daredevil's cancellation, Karen Page actress Deborah Ann Woll says quality has nothing to do with the series' end.
Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Woll decided to open up about Daredevil's cancellations, admitting that while Daredevil had a very strong third season, she'd always feared the series end after hearing about what happened to Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
"After the Iron Fist and Luke Cage cancellations, it was in the back of my mind," Woll explained during her discussion, "I knew we had a very, very strong season, and I was so proud of it. When we finished shooting and in the press leading up to it, we were all very confident that we'd do another one because this is great and we've only just begun. But then when I heard that Luke got canceled, that was surprising to me. I really liked that show, and it obviously represents an underserved demographic, and that's an important thing."
Obviously, fans feel the same way about Daredevil. Groups have been rallying behind the series, creating petitions on behalf of the show hoping that Netflix might rethink its decision and bring Daredevil back to its fold.
However, the probability of Netflix undoing Daredevil's cancellation seems pretty slim, especially in the face of Disney's decision to pull out its content to focus on its own streaming site, Disney+. In fact, fans are expecting the cancellation of Netflix's remaining Marvel TV series The Punisher and Jessica Jones. Let's wait and see what happens.
