Daredevil Star Charlie Cox Hopes For A Team-Up With Spider-Man In The MCU

Marvel fans weren't the only ones left heartbroken after hearing about Netflix's decision to cancel Daredevil. Charlie Cox was equally as disappointed when the streaming giant decided to ax the Marvel TV series despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews given to its third batch of episodes.

However, while Cox admits that his time defending New York City in Daredevil might be pretty much over, the Matt Murdock actor still hopes that he'll return to Marvel's fold in the future.

Speaking in an interview with the Playlist, Cox opens up about his time playing Daredevil, saying that he'd love to continue playing the Devil of Hell's Kitchen for Marvel if he could.

"Oh, yeah. I loved it, man," Cox told the entertainment news outlet "I would love to get to continue playing that character."

Cox would even love to be invited to play Daredevil for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Knowing how Vincent D'Onofrio made a request to star as Kingpin in a future Spider-Man movie for the MCU, Cox decided that he'd also like to see a team-up between Daredevil and everyone's favorite web-slinger, Peter Parker.

"In the comic books, there are some fantastic Spider-Man/Daredevil storylines. The bottom line is I just absolutely love the show. I love playing the character," Cox said during the interview. "It's still a bit weird to me that I'm not playing the character anymore. It's kind of impossible for me to really imagine that [a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up] because it's been such a long period of my life."

Of course, as exciting as it might sound to see Daredevil exchanging lines with Spidey, the odds of Cox making it into the MCU still seem pretty low. Marvel TV's always had a pretty strained relationship with Marvel Studios, and right now, the MCU is moving on to another chapter, one that may no longer need the current iteration of the Avengers.

Hopefully, Netflix reconsiders its decision and brings back Daredevil.

Daredevil season 1, 2, and 3 are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
