D23: The Mandalorian's Jon Favreau Speaks Up About Spider-Man's MCU Exit

Tony Stark may have been his mentor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but there is little doubt that Peter Parker was also close to Happy Hogan. Now Spider-Man: Far From Home star Jon Favreau is speaking up about the web-slinger's shocking exit from the MCU.

Favreau is currently at D23 Expo 2019 to promote his new series The Mandalorian but that doesn't mean he isn't concerned about Peter Parker's future in the MCU. When Entertainment Tonight asked about his opinion about the fallout between Sony and Disney and the deal involving Spider-Man, the filmmaker referred to Happy Hogan's unexpected affair with Aunt May in Far From Home.

"After all that time, it took 10 years for him to get to a good relationship!" Favreau said. He then added, "It's still early days. As a fan, [I'm] cautiously hopeful that something will come together because I think all the fans wanna see those characters together. I don't mean Happy and May, I mean Spidey with the MCU."

Favreau admitted that he doesn't know the full story just yet but is certainly looking forward to seeing Spidey being at home in the MCU.

"What you read isn't always indicative of where things are now, so hopefully I'll find out more while I'm here," he said. "But as a fan, I'm hopeful that... you know, cautiously optimistic. Holding out hope that this isn't the final chapter of that story."

I think we all agree with Favreau on this one. Peter is now a major part of the MCU and his storyline is now connected to Happy's own arc. We're certainly hoping that further negotiations will be made to keep Spider-Man with the MCU family.

The D23 Expo 2019 is currently happening in Anaheim. Favreau's The Mandalorian series will premiere on Disney+ on November 12.
