There is little doubt that Crossbones is one of the most underutilized characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although people were hoping that the Marvel villain would play a larger role in the films, he was unceremoniously killed early on in Captain America: Civil War. But is it possible that we haven't seen the last of Brock Rumlow? A new report claims that Crossbones could make a major comeback in an upcoming MCU flick.
The report comes from MCU Cosmic, which reveals that Marvel Studios still has plans for Crossbones in the future.
"Marvel is looking to bring back Crossbones in some way and are in discussions about it now... I do not know where or how he'll return. It could be something like seeing an alternate universe Crossbones in the Madness of the Multiverse that Doctor Strange will be dealing with next year, or it could be something bigger than that," the report reads.
This is interesting news considering that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to bring back characters that have already been killed off in the MCU. In addition to that, Rumlow seems like the perfect villain for the new Captain America to face after the events in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
"Perhaps through the Multiverse, we could see Crossbones return to the MCU permanently and be a villain for Sam Wilson's Cap to deal with or even a member of the Thunderbolts…" the report continues.
It's still unclear whether Rumlow will be brought back but this isn't the first time that people have speculated about his return. It was previously reported that actor Frank Grillo still has five films left in his contract with Marvel Studios. With that in mind, fans shouldn't be surprised if Crossbones is resurrected in the MCU.
