Creed 2 Director Tapped to Helm Next Transformers Film

Michael Bay pretty much said farewell to the Transformers series with The Last Knight, and Paramount had done a reboot/prequel of the franchise with Bumblebee. Though that film wasn't perfect, the franchise moves forward, and news has it that the studio has found someone to direct.

According to Deadline, Paramount is currently courting Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. to direct the next Transformers movie. We don't have any details on what the story would be about, but it's said that it will be taking place in the same universe as Bumblebee. There is also no mention of Bay's involvement, so I guess it would be safe to assume that he's officially done with the franchise.

Back in January, news had come out that Paramount was working with two Transformers scripts, the other one being based on the spinoff Beast Wars. It's unsure if Caple will be directing Transformers or the Beast Wars spinoff, but I guess if they did find someone to direct Beast Wars, they would announce the title as ‘Beast Wars' and not ‘the next Transformers film.' Then again, I could be wrong; this is just speculation.

Though Bumblebee was not a critical hit, it does earn some praise for the new look of the Transformers, what with them being a lot closer to the ‘blocky' G1 appearance, only updated with modern designs. I would very much love to see the rest of the Autobots and the Decepticons; heck they can just drop the entire Earth setting and just give us a full War on Cybertron film.

The next Transformers movie is set to come out on June 24, 2022.
