Core Set 2021 Previews Reveal 3 New Magic: The Gathering Cards

The Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2021 previews kicked off today with Wizards of the Coast and members of the MTG community revealing new cards and reprints from the upcoming set, and in addition to Teferi, Master of Time, and the other cards revealed earlier today, three more new cards have been unveiled, including a 5/4 legendary dragon that can make treasure tokens, a legendary artifact that lets you spend mana as if they mana of any color, and a 1/4 black/white vampire noble with Flying and Lifelink. Check out Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge, Chromatic Orrery, and Indulging Patrician.

Hopefully, Core Set 2021 will have enough viable artifact cards to support this card. Three mana for a 5/4 flying creature is not bad, but the drawback might be tough if you don't have the right cards early enough.

Well, that's one way to work around Color Identity in Commander.

It looks like Vampire tribal will return in Core Set 2021, and I can see this as a good pick for Limited formats. We'll just have to wait and see if the set will feature enough strong vampires to make Vampire tribal viable in competitive Standard.

Core Set 2021 is set to release on July 3 with Prerelease events scheduled from June 26 to July 2.
