Cool Trailer for the J.J. Abrams-Produced WWII Horror Overlord

J.J. Abrams may be busy working on Star Wars Episode IX right now, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the time for side projects as well. Check out the first trailer for this WWI horror movie called Overlord.

Here's the plot synopsis:

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion's success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.

The movie is directed by Julius Avery who so far only has one feature-length movie in his resume; he directed 2014's Son of a Gun which starred Ewan McGregor , Brenton Thwaites, and Alicia Vikander. The movie didn't get the best reviews, but I trust that Abrams has something interesting to bring us with this movie he's put together.

Though Overlord may be marketed as a horror movie, the trailer seems to sell the film as more of an action-packed historical fiction. That being said, there's still some creepy mystery elements to the film—expect nothing less from mystery box-loving Abrams.

Overlord is gearing up for a release on Oct. 26.
