Kim Byung Man received the most heartbreaking news in his life about the passing of his mother.
Buan in South Korea has been known for its clams which people can get in the area’s mud flat. People across the country schedule their tours to experience clam picking and taste the clam-based specialties in the county.
Recently, a group of three individuals got stranded due to a flood tide in the area, but one of them did not make it alive.

Kim Byung Man’s Mother Dead in Buan
On May 3, multiple Korean news outlets, including SBS Now, reported an incident involving stranded individuals in the county. The Buan County police revealed that at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, a group of people got stuck while picking clams due to a flood tide. The group reportedly failed to notice the flood tide as they worked straight for four hours.
Two individuals managed to climb onto the boulders in the area and wait for help. The Coast Guard and 119 rescue teams worked together to save the two persons and search for the missing individual.

The last person in the group, a woman in her 70s, failed to save herself and was found drifting nearby.
The responders were still able to transfer her to the nearest hospital, but she was later declared dead. The police launched a probe into the incident.
It turned out that the woman in her 70s who died after the event was Kim Byung Man’s mother.
Kim Byung Man Heartbroken With Mother’s Passing
After the news about the death of Kim Byung Man’s mother emerged, the comedian’s agency, SM C&C, released a statement to address the development.
“Kim Byung Man’s mother passed away today. He is in a state of great sadness due to the sudden unfortunate news. The funeral will be held quietly. We ask for your consideration so that we can mourn the deceased,” the company went on.
It confirmed that the funeral would be held in Iksan City in North Jeolla province.
Kim Byung Man and his family are yet to share a family statement.
The comedian is best known for his role as Master in Gag Concert. He also acts as the Chief of Law of the Jungle. Kim Byung Man has also been a multi-awarded comedian, receiving accolades from different award-giving bodies, including the SBS Entertainment Awards, 49th Baeksang Awards, and 41st Korea Broadcasting Awards.
