Cole Sprouse is breaking his silence following his split from his ex-girlfriend and Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. The A-listers first met on the set of the hit Netflix series before they fell in love. But even after their split, they were forced to still work together because of their contracts with the show.
Cole Sprouse Breaks His Silence On Lili Reinhart Split
During his conversation with Alex Cooper, Cole Sprouse admitted that he and Lili Reinhart did quite a bit of damage to each other by deciding to still work together instead of distancing themselves from one another after their split.
“It was hard to suspend all the way we felt about each other and it didn’t afford us the luxury of distance to really overcome that. I know we both did quite a bit of damage to each other,” he said (via Us Weekly).
Sprouse previously released a statement announcing his split from Reinhart back in January 2020.
“Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March. What an incredible experience I had, I’ll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward. All I’ll say about it, is anything else you hear doesn’t matter,” he said.

Cole Sprouse Says He Would’ve Ended His Relationship With Lili Reinhart Earlier If Not For Their Fans
During this week’s interview, Sprouse said that he should’ve ended his relationship with Reinhart earlier if he didn’t worry so much about what their supporters would think.
“I think if I had loved myself a little more, I probably would have left [my relationship with Lili] a little earlier. I just felt like I had to take care of a lot of people around me, which was not good for me. I probably should have exercised a bit more selfishness in that situation,” he said.
Cole Sprouse Linked To Ari Fournier After His Split From Lili Reinhart
Shortly after their breakup, Sprouse was linked to Ari Fournier. And during his conversation with GQ Hype, the former child star revealed that his and Reinhart’s followers made it difficult for him to move on from his ex-girlfriend.
“Followers report everything about Ari and me as bullying, and it gets taken down pretty immediately. Even on my other friends’ accounts, it gets taken down,” he said.
As for Reinhart, the actress described her split from Sprouse as being in a black tunnel that seemed to have no end.
“My therapist [told] me, ‘Your body’s going through withdrawal from love. You’re used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you’re with. In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like, ‘Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour, just so I can feel that fix again,’” Reinhart said.
