Cobra Kai Officially Coming to an End with Final Season Renewal

After the fifth season of Cobra Kai aired on Netflix last September, there have been questions about its future. Will it get a sixth season? Is it going to be the final one? Will Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence continue their karate journey go beyond that? Now, we have the answer and it looks like we're going on our final ride.

Netflix has announced that Cobra Kai has been renewed for a sixth and final season. The news was also made official by the creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg in a letter that they posted for the fans on social media.

The trio first reflected on their love of The Karate Kid films and their journey of making the series with the blessings of the key creatives behind the originals. They also discussed how the series led to inspiring a new generation of fans of the franchise.

"Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined. So it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement. The upcoming Season Six will mark the conclusion of Cobra Kai," the letter continued.

"While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger. This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies."

The letter ended with a tease that the final installment will be its "biggest season" yet and reciting the Karate Kid franchise's iconic phrase: "Strike First. Strike Hard. No Mercy."

This is certainly a bittersweet announcement since a lot of fans are certainly hoping that the series will last longer than what we're getting. However, obviously, things come to an end and the creatives have officially decided that the upcoming season will be the fitting end for the story of the series.

It is exciting to see what they have in store for the show's final season and whether we will finally see the long-awaited return of one of the beloved characters from The Karate Kid films: Hilary Swank's Julie Pierce. After all, this is the last opportunity for them to do it. Let's just wait and see for now.
