Claudia Gray Working on a Book Centered on Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn

Claudia Gray has given us some fantastic Star Wars novels like Leia, Princess of Alderaan and Bloodline. With SDCC 2018 comes the announcement of her upcoming book focusing on a story between Obi-Wan Kenobi and his master Qui-Gon Jinn.

According to StarWars.com, the book will be called Star Wars: Master & Apprentice. Here's the official description:

Set before the events of The Phantom Menace, this thrilling new novel from bestselling author Claudia Gray (Bloodline), stars Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi on a dangerous mission for the Jedi!

In Star Wars Legends, there was actually a whole series of novels titled Jedi Apprentice which followed the story of Obi-Wan as a padawan. With all those stories debunked, however, we have another era of Star Wars to explore, and a lot of fans have loved what Gray has brought to the canon so far.

Qui-Gon is one of my favorite characters from the prequels, and I'd like to see him get more story in Star Wars, even if it's just through the books. Ideally, he would appear as a Force Ghost at some point, but we don't know what J.J. Abrams and Chris Terrio are cooking up for Star Wars Episode IX.

Star Wars: Master & Apprentice is set to hit shelves Feb. 26, 2019.
