Classic Spider-Man Villain Is In Talks To Make MCU Return

Since the appearances of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Tobey Maguire and The Amazing Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home, MCU fans were immediately transported back to nostalgia whereas the combination team of three Spider-Men on screen was already more than enough to keep the fans seated. What more when the old classic villains such as Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman, and the others appeared?

“We had a whole story involving his daughter, for [Spider-Man: No Way Home]. And it just ended up [getting cut]. There was just so much going on.” Sandman actor Thomas Haden Church revealed in a recent interview with The DisInsider.

The Sandman may not have been featured as much in No Way Home, however, he was big enough to cause a wave that covered up pre-spoilers on the idea of three Spider-Men banding together in a single MCU film. Church later on added:

“Jon and I and Amy [Pascal] and Kevin [Feige], we all had a lot of conversations. And I would say that conversations have been had about the possibility of Sandman coming into a future iteration of it.” Church said, “The conversation has happened about him coming back, and maybe picking up a more fulfilling story. You know? With Flint and being not just Sandman, but returning to human form.”

Seeing that Church had already made his appearance as Sandman in No Way Home, surely returning to the MCU wouldn’t hurt? Considering that Sony’s Venom already made his cameo in No Way Home, too, then the ol’ Spider-Men villains could make sense at some point.

Not to mention, Tobey Maguire has already seemingly confirmed he will also be joining the MCU soon.

For now though, Venom 3 is currently in development, rumored to feature some Spider-Man action in the film, and a connection with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, perhaps?

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 is reportedly set to premiere sometime in 2024.
