Chukwudi Iwuji Names an Unexpected DC Character He Wants to Play

Doing double duty for both Marvel and DC is not a new thing for some Hollywood actors, like Chukwudi Iwuji, who both appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and season 1 of Peacemaker.

The Nigerian-British actor has worked with James Gunn for both of his superhero stints. He portrayed Clemson Murn in Peacemaker and the High Evolutionary in the third and final installment of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Despite already appearing in the DCU and working with Gunn, Iwuji shared that there’s another DC character he wants to play, considering if he worked with the filmmaker again.

In an interview on the Phase Zero podcast, the DC-Marvel star revealed that he is interested in bringing the demon Etrigan to life.

“I was talking to a friend about it: I was like 'This character... This is Jeykll and Hyde in the DC world. So Etrigan. If you told me to name one it would be Etrigan. Like I just love the idea of having two people existing in one. That'd be my DC one. Etrigan.” said the actor.

Etrigan was created by Jack Kirby in 1972 and was originally from Gotham City. The character has appeared in various offerings, such as Alan Moore's Swamp Thing. He has also been linked to several characters, including Batman and Green Arrow.

Iwuji’s role in Guardians 3 has gained him newfound admiration from some of the MCU fans, as he effectively portrayed the villain.

Given that there will be no more Guardians movies, there is no future for the actor’s character. However, a second season of Peacemaker is underway, and Iwuji reprising his role is likely.

However, even if the John Wick Chapter 2 actor appeared in Peacemaker again or in Marvel through a different character, it doesn't mean that the character he said he wants to play in the new DCU could not happen.

After all, under Gunn’s direction, he could easily offer Iwuji what he wants, given that the Guardians of the Galaxy cast is tight with the director. And the actor has proven himself worthy of any performance.
