Chris Pratt Promises That Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is Happening

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was initially set to kick-start the fourth phase of the MCU, but after director James Gunn was fired last year, the movie has went into an indefinite hiatus. Chris Pratt is still set to return as Star-Lord, and he assures fans that the movie is definitely still happening.

Talking to Variety, Pratt explains:

"Yeah, we're gonna see another one. I promise there'll be a third movie. I don't know exactly what that's gonna look like. But I know everyone onboard is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way."

For now, the search for a new director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 continues. Rumors have come out that Adam McKay was approached to helm, but had turned the job down. Directors like Edgar Wright, Taika Waititi, Phil Lord and Chris Miller have also been pitched by fans on Twitter, but even they agree that the Gunn himself should be allowed to finish the trilogy that he started.

At some point, I have a feeling that Marvel is just waiting for all these issues to die down before they let Gunn back into the fold; but if Gunn does come back to helm, it might mean a longer wait for the release of Guardians 3. Now he's currently set to helm the sequel to Suicide Squad.

We don't have any idea when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will come out, but hopefully Marvel managed to find someone to direct before 2019 ends.
