Chris Pratt is on a major roll as of late and if you thought 2022 was a banner year for the actor, 2023 promises to be an even bigger career highlight for him as he gears up for the "final" Guardians of the Galaxy film and The Super Mario Bros. Movie where he voices the iconic video game character.

When Pratt's involvement in the 3D-animated project was first announced, fans were a bit skeptical about his casting, and for good reason. You see, the beloved Nintendo character has been associated with the voice of Charles Martinet who has served as the voice of Mario for 30 years now and a lot of people found it quite baffling how he wasn't tapped for the film project.

Obviously, Pratt, who is the bigger name was the more practical choice for the part as a star of his caliber would attract audiences to see the film. However, that doesn't seem to be the case as his take on Mario is already drawing backlash online. The first official teaser for The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released this week and to put it simply, Pratt sounds nothing like the Mario we all know and love.

Now, a fan-edited trailer for the film is making the rounds online, replacing Pratt's voice with Martinet's and it definitely sounds 100 times better than what we'll end up getting. Check it out here:

Of course, it's pretty understandable how Pratt wanted to put his own spin on the beloved plumber but let's be honest, it didn't feel like he tried his best to make his version distinct from Martinet's take on the character.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will have its theatrical release on April 7, 2023.
