Chris Pine Talks Steve Trevor's Role in Wonder Woman 1984

Steve Trevor may have died in the first Wonder Woman film, but he's somehow been brought back to life in the upcoming sequel. Chris Pine is reprising the role of Diana's love interest and he talks a bit about how Trevor's role has changed for Wonder Woman 1984.

"This one is a little different for me tonally," Pine tells Variety, "The tables are turned, and I'm more of the deer in the headlights."

Seeing that it was Steve who had to show Diana the ropes of the world in the first movie, I'm guessing it's Diana who has to guide Steve as he's found himself as a man out of time a la Captain America. It's also just dawned on me that both characters are named Steve.

We don't really know how Steve Trevor gets resurrected in the film, but one popular theory is that he's been brought back to life by Hades, and Diana has to fulfill some kind of promise to keep Trevor alive. Of course, this is just speculation for now, but what are the odds that Pedro Pascal is actually playing a god in disguise just like Ares in the first movie?

As of now, we don't have a synopsis for Wonder Woman 1984 yet, but we do know that it's set at the end of the Cold War and that Kristen Wiig is playing the villain Cheetah.

Catch Wonder Woman 1984 when it hits theaters June 5, 2020.
