Chris Hemsworth Casts Doubt on Thor's MCU Return

There is little doubt that fans are still hoping that Thor will return in more Marvel Cinematic Universe films. But what are the chances that we'll see the God of Thunder in action again soon? Chris Hemsworth may have confirmed that he is officially done with the MCU.

Chris Hemsworth Shares Interesting Marvel Proposal

Chris Hemsworth is currently promoting Extraction 2 and he couldn't stop gushing about his latest project. In an interview with Total Film magazine, Hemsworth hyped up the action sequences in the Netflix movie (via GamesRadar).

"It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m not exaggerating," he said.

"At the end of a take, you’re sucking air like you never have before, and everyone drops to their knees. But it’s so much more rewarding," Hemsworth added.

He then pointed out that he is hoping that this type of filming would be adapted by Marvel Studios.

"I would love to take this style and integrate it into a Marvel film, if I was ever to do another one," Hemsworth said.

The final part of his statement might seem hopeful but it also appears to confirm that Chris Hemsworth currently has no plans of doing an MCU movie.

It's a disappointing update considering that Thor: Love and Thunder somehow teased that the God of Thunder still has an important role to play in the MCU.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor adopts Gorr's daughter Love who had been resurrected by Eternity. The film concluded with the two taking on some bad guys with Thor wielding Mjolnir while Love wields Stormbreaker.

Although the film didn't indicate whether there will be a fifth Thor movie, fans were quick to note that it's a tease towards the future. It also suggested that Love will serve as Thor's successor in the next MCU projects.

It's still unclear when Chris Hemsworth will return to work on another Marvel film. After all, he had previously confirmed that he will be taking a career hiatus after discovering that he has an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

For now, Marvel Studios has yet to announce Chris Hemsworth's return as Thor in their upcoming projects. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that we'll get an update in the next year.

Extraction 2 will premiere on Netflix on June 16, 2023.
