After breaking up with Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) is likely to find new romance in Chicago Fire Season 11, according to the showrunners.

Sylvie Brett’s Rumored Love Interest in Chicago Fire Season 11

Brett will resume dating, according to Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman, who broke the news a few weeks ago.

“Brett will date again!” Newman told TV Line. “She meets someone that has a surprising connection to the past, and she’ll go on her first date since Casey left.”

Brett and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) meet a volunteer called Dylan while stopping at a children's hospital in Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 8. Violet thinks Dylan was the person Hawkins intended to set Brett up with before he died as they discover more about him. Dylan subsequently swings by the firehouse and asks Brett out on a date, which she reluctantly accepts after Violet's urging.

Though Brett is returning to the dating scene, Newman admits that a deep connection is likely a long way off.

“She’s in love with Casey,” she said. “You can’t just shut that off.”

The Struggle to Get Over a Heartbreak

When Casey made the decision to go to Portland to take care of his late friend's sons, Brett and Casey were just beginning to establish a firm foundation for their relationship. For the second half of Season 10, Brett remains in Chicago and the two date long-distance.

However, Brett put an end to their relationship in the Chicago Fire Season 11 premiere this fall.

In subsequent episodes, we've seen Brett devote herself to her profession while also supporting her friend Violet in the aftermath of the loss of her own boyfriend, Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas), earlier in the season.

The loss of Hawkins in a terrible movie theater fire has been difficult to accept, but it turns out that Brett's new romantic interest in the program had a sympathetic connection with the late paramedic field chief.

Matt Casey’s Rumored Return

This fall, there has been a flurry of Chicago Fire rumors, with many viewers thinking that Matt would return for Episodes 7-9 of the season to reprise his role.

The actor briefly made a comeback for the Season 10 finale after taking a break from the show in the middle of Season 10 nearly a year ago. Since that time, he hasn't been on camera in the One Chicago universe. He had previously stated that he quit the show in order to focus on other projects and take a break from network television.

Matt has yet to appear, and given that we're through the majority of those episodes, they could just be rumors. Having said that, the Episode 9 synopsis adds that "a familiar face makes a shocking return," which gives a glimmer of hope for the fall finale.
