Australian actor Jesse Spencer became a fan favorite after portraying Matthew Casey in the NBC drama series Chicago Fire for nine seasons. His departure from the show last October left fans devastated.

However, his recent return to the show has rekindled hope for fans that he might be back full-time.

The Return of Matt Casey in Chicago Fire

According to USA Today, Spencer and executive producer Derek Haas shared that they had agreed to get Casey to at least 200 episodes before leaving the show. Spencer admitted that leaving the show was a difficult decision as he had loved it from the start, but he had other things he wanted to do and family to take care of.

Spencer kept himself busy with various projects after leaving Chicago Fire, including playing a role in the upcoming Disney+ dramedy Last Days of the Space Age.

In Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 18, fans were treated to the highly anticipated return of Matt Casey. Spencer returned to the show after leaving it for six months. In an interview with TV Insider, Spencer shared that while he loved being back, he wasn't sure if he wanted to return full-time.
