We're all happy now that Matt Murdock has officially returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there was a time when fans were concerned that the Man Without Fear will never be seen again in the MCU. Interestingly, Charlie Cox was never worried about that. According to Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick, the Daredevil actor was aware of the character's return almost immediately after the Netflix series was cancelled!
Back in 2018, it was announced that Daredevil would be cancelled after three seasons. The news didn't go well with fans who demanded that the show should be renewed by using the #SaveDaredevil hashtag. On the other hand, some were hopeful that the characters from the Netflix series will be reintroduced in the MCU. That's exactly what happened when Matt Murdock showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home while Wilson Fisk played an important role in Hawkeye.
These were all a welcome surprise for fans but there was one person who knew what would happen. Jessica Henwick recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her hopes for her Iron Fist character Colleen Wing and somehow revealed that Charlie Cox was aware of his own character's comeback.
“I love Colleen. She changed my life. Of course, if I was given the opportunity to revisit her, I would, but I just don’t know how likely that is,” Henwick said before adding that “Charlie knew about that opportunity years ago. He already knew it was happening.”
We're not surprised that Marvel Studios told Cox about their plans for Daredevil. The Defenders star has always been good at keeping secrets and it was important he knew about the plans so he would be open to returning in the future.
But what about Henwick's Colleen Wing? She was quick to point out that if there were plans for the new Iron Fist, she should have been told about it at around the same time as Cox. “I think I would have heard by now if there were any plans with Colleen,” she said.
It's disappointing to know that there are no plans from Colleen Wing but it's important to remember that her return might be being kept a secret as well. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
