During the interview, Otsuka recalled his previous statement back in MAPPA’s 10th-anniversary event in 2021.

There, he mentioned that Chainsaw Man will become MAPPA’s masterpiece for the next 10 years.

Otsuka explained why he thought this, stating that he believed Tatsuki Fujimoto’s vision was new and original, and that Fujimoto was able to combine different subcultures and other elements in an interesting way.

In fact, Otsuka believed that the series would impress people from all over the world when he first read the manga. Because of this, he wanted MAPPA to adapt it.

Typically, a TV anime is produced by a production committee that’s composed of production companies, and sometimes the animation studio working on the show.

This is done to minimize the risk of an anime failing financially. Though it also means profits will be split among multiple organizations.

The Chainsaw Man anime is different as it does not have a committee. Instead, it is only MAPPA that’s handling the production.

This means MAPPA is taking the full risk of producing the series, but this goes to show how Otsuka and the studio believe in the success of the anime.

Chainsaw Man Anime – Will There Be a Season 2?

Given that Otsuka said that the anime will be MAPPA’s masterpiece over the next decade, it’s possible that the next season is already in the planning stages.

While there’s no official announcement yet, the current Chainsaw Man anime adaptation is only one season long, meaning it will only cover a couple of arcs in Part 1 of the manga.

As it seems that the studio has big plans for the series, chances are high that a follow-up anime will be produced.

However, it might take some time before an announcement comes out. It’ll also be interesting to see if there will be a Season 2 or if an anime film will be produced.

New episodes of Chainsaw Man are released every week, with new episodes released on Crunchyroll in the US and other regions.
