There might be no Chainsaw Man chapter this week, but that hasn’t stopped the series from trending. Instead of the series itself though, CSMTOBER is trending on X as lots of Chainsaw Man fans are participating.

This trend may be hard to decipher for those who aren’t all that active on X (formerly Twitter), but there is a fairly simple explanation for it.

As you may have guessed based on the name, this trend is something that happens during October.

So, what exactly is CSMTOBER? Well, it’s a trend where fan artists create and share one Chainsaw Man artwork or illustration every day during October.

This is not exclusive to Chainsaw Man though, as it’s part of the wider Inktober trend that happens every year in October.

Inktober is not a new thing as it was started back in 2009 by the artist Jake Parker. This challenge asks artists to draw an art piece every day throughout October.

It was initially made by Parker to develop his skills and drawing habits.

Since then, the Inktober challenge has become quite popular among artist communities online. This is no surprise given that it’s a fun challenge to try and it's also quite fulfilling to complete.

Every year, an “official” prompt list is shared on the Inktober website. This can serve as a helpful guide for artists who want to simply draw instead of racking their brains for ideas.

Of course, these prompts aren’t necessary to participate in Inktober. In fact, various fanbases have also made their own versions of Inktober, including Chainsaw Man fans.

As it’s now the third day of October, there have already been lots of Chainsaw Man CSMTOBER entries on X.

Unsurprisingly, many of the fanart feature Asa Mitaka, one of the most important characters in Chainsaw Man Part 2.

If you head over to X right now, you’ll be greeted with some impressive fan-made works, some of which you can see here:

There are still 28 days to go in October, so there’s no doubt that we’ll see more entries as the month progresses.

Participating in the challenge is also a fun way of spending time before the next Chainsaw Man chapter gets released next week on Manga Plus and Shonen Jump.
