He usually plays the hopeless romantic character in his K-dramas but in reality, he is far more than that.
In his previous interviews, he often spoke about his love story with his wife, a pop lyricist, Choi Suk Eun, who is his high school sweetheart.

Cha Tae Hyun’s wife is his first love whom he married after 13 years of dating.
Being dubbed the “romantic man,” the actor revealed an interesting and heartwarming story about their marriage.
In 2020, the Police University star appeared as a guest in JTBC’s Camping Vibes where he spoke about the thing that he treasures the most.
In an article obtained by Soompi, Cha Tae Hyun revealed that he keeps his wife’s love letter in his wallet.
It was a handwritten letter that she wrote because she felt sorry for the actor.
“She helped me a lot when I was suffering from panic disorder. It comforts me, so that’s why I carry it around. But it’s not like I read it every day,” he explained.
Besides the love letter, the actor once halted his filming because of her wife.
At the time, he followed his girlfriend because she wanted to end the relationship.
“If I didn’t go, it would’ve been the end of us,” he said.
Cha Tae Hyun told the staff that something came up at home and went straight to Choi Suk Eun and apologized.

The actor solidified his name in the industry thanks to the hit rom-com film with Jun Ji Hyun.
However, his career played a huge part when Choi Suk Eun wanted to end things with him because he kept putting off their wedding.
“After my hit film My Sassy Girl did really well, I didn’t get so lucky with my other projects. Whenever we tried to get married, something didn’t work out. I wanted to get married after appearing in a hit project, but it didn’t work out,” he explained.
Thankfully, they managed to have their dreamy ceremony on June 1, 2006, and are blessed with three children, a son, and two daughters.
