Catch Your Very Own Detective Pikachu in New Pokemon GO Event

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu isn't even out yet but many are already saying it's the best video game film out there. That's not saying a lot since Rampage used to own that title but it's a step forward for these kinds of adaptations and we can't wait for more. Fans who want to jump in that hype train for a bit are in for good news since Detective Pikachu and a number of Pokemon from the film will be the main focus for the next Pokemon GO event.

Starting on May 7 and ending on May 17, fans will be able to catch their own Detective Pikachu in the mobile game. This is mostly the same with other in-game Pikachu but with a detective hat, which is always nice. Oddly enough, it seems like you can only encounter a wild Detective Pikachu if it photobombs you, which should be fun.

Aside from the title star, there will be increased encounters with prominent Pokemon from the film, like Bulbasaur, Psyduck, and Jigglypuff. There will also be new Raid Battles based on the movie, with Charizard, Lickitung, and more looking like candidates as bosses. Wouldn't be too surprising to see Mewtwo in that list too.

Finally, there will be new Detective Pikachu-themed items for your custom avatar. These are silly but fun, so if you're into these items you better save up your in-game money.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu comes to theaters on May 10. Pokemon GO is now available for download on iOS and Android.
