Just when we thought The Incredibles II got all the hype, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is receiving so much buzz that some are calling it the best animated film of the year. With the movie coming out later this week, Vanity Fair shares this fun photo of the cast standing next to their characters in the movie.

Interestingly enough, the photo doesn't include Mahershala Ali who is providing the voice of Aaron Davis a.k.a. The Prowler. We also don't have appearances from Miles' parents played by Bryan Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Velez.
Though we do get multiple villains in the film, it seems that the main antagonist is going to be the Kingpin (Liev Schreiber). Based on the trailers, it looks like he's the one who's going to be causing the anomaly that drags everyone into Miles Morales' universe. Interestingly enough, some people may remember Schreiber as another comic villain, Sabertooth, in the timeless classic — X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
With the positive reception that Spider-Verse has gotten, Sony is already planning a sequel for the film, plus an all-woman team-up that could have Hailee Steinfeld's Spider-Gwen in the spotlight. With Venom being a critical mess, hopefully, Sony will just pursue the franchise in the same direction as this film.
Bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway, Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales suddenly develops mysterious powers that transform him into the one and only Spider-Man. When he meets Peter Parker, he soon realizes that there are many others who share his special, high-flying talents. Miles must now use his newfound skills to battle the evil Kingpin, a hulking madman who can open portals to other universes and pull different versions of Spider-Man into our world.
Catch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters Dec. 14.
