Carrie Fisher’s Brother Todd Promises Unused And New Leia Footage For Star Wars 9

Star Wars: Episode IX isn't just the first third and final film in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, it's also meant to be a tribute to the late Carrie Fisher. The Star Wars legend passed away two years ago after experiencing a cardiac arrest while on a commercial flight, and everyone's eager to see her again on the big screen.

While fans have also been considered about what kind of footage of Leia they'll get to see when Episode IX premieres – after all, Carrie did pass away before she could finish shooting her scenes for the film – the Star Wars legend's brother, Todd, promises fans brand new content for everyone to see.

Todd Fisher just recently spoke with Good Morning America, and in the interview, Carrie's brother inadvertently revealed a few interesting tidbits about Leia's footage in Episode IX saying that he's "thrilled" and can't wait for fans to see the film.

"There's a lot of minutes of footage. I don't mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That's what's going to give everybody such a great kick. It's going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday," Todd told the publication.

The only question now is how many minutes will we get to see Leia and just how large a role the General will get to have in Episode IX. Leia deserves a bigger part, more scenes. The Force Awakens was meant as a tribute to Harrison Ford's Han Solo. The Last Jedi served as a tribute to Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker. Episode IX is meant for Leia. We'd probably start a riot if J.J. Abrams brushes Leia to the side in the movie.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
