Captain Marvel to Wrap Production in Two Weeks

It's been ten years since we've been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we have yet to get a solo film centered on a super heroine. The MCU seeks to remedy this with Captain Marvel next year, and news has it that the movie is close to wrapping up production.

This was confirmed by co-director Ryan Fleck, who shared on Instagram:

Like Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel is going to be a period piece, but it will feature a time jump of only a few decades back. Set in the 90s, the movie will have us follow Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as she gains powers and tries to save Earth from a war between the Kree and the Skrulls. Along the way we'll meet old mainstays of the MCU, Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, and even Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Captain Marvel was teased at the post-credits scene for Avengers: Infinity War, and the release of her solo film will no doubt hype up her character for Avengers 4. A lot of teasers have been coming out that Marvel will be the most powerful hero in the MCU, but I'm hopeful that her arrival doesn't mark the irrelevance of other heroes.

Captain Marvel is set for a release on March 8, 2019.
