Captain Marvel Google Searches Spike After Avengers: Infinity War

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War might have just made its big premiere last week but fans have already begun looking towards the second chapter in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie.

With so much anticipation building up over Avengers 4, viewers have begun doing their research on one of the most highly anticipated heroes appearing in the Infinity War sequel – Brie Larson's Captain Marvel.

There's been a noticeable uptick in the trend for Captain Marvel searches on Google during the weeks approaching Infinity War's premiere, and now that the film's out in cinemas, the trend's just climbing higher with most of the searches coming from the US, Australia, and the Philippines.

Set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year, Captain Marvel will be the very first female Marvel hero to receive her very own standalone film. Though she didn't appear in Infinity War, she had a major reference in the film's post-credits scene where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) tries to contact Carol Danvers with a pager-like gadget right before he crumbles to dust along with half of the universe.

Here's the synopsis for Infinity War:

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet -- the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
