There is little doubt that Captain Marvel is one of the most anticipated films in 2019. Unfortunately, there have only been a few trailers and TV spots released for the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick so we're still in the dark with what will happen in the movie. Luckily, a first look video offers some interesting new footage featuring Carol Danvers and her old friend Maria Rambeau.
The featurette was shared on Twitter and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Captain Marvel. There is an interview with Brie Larson as well as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. At one point, we get to see how certain scenes were filmed and even a fleeting glimpse at Carol's cat Goose. Interestingly, there is a brief shot of Larson's character somehow relaxing at a bar with Maria (Lashana Lynch).
There is little doubt that this particular scene is a flashback but it also gives us another look at Maria, whose daughter Monica eventually becomes Photon. The scene is expected to offer some insight into Maria's life and possibly hint at Monica's possible debut in the MCU.
We still don't know much about Captain Marvel yet Jude Law's role in the film may have finally been confirmed. It was previously reported that the actor's mysterious character was finally revealed as Mar-Vell although Disney has since edited the description.
The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening, and Gemma Chan. It is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Captain Marvel crashes into theaters on March 8, 2019.
